Marine Atlas of Pacific Canada released

The British Columbia Marine Conservation Analysis (BCMCA), a collaborative project co-chaired by Karin Bodtker of the Living Oceans Society, released its Marine Atlas of Pacific Canada. The on-line atlas contains 260 maps with accompanying facing pages, beautifully illustrating the marine ecological features and human uses of the B.C. coast. Spatial data is available for download from the online library as permitted by original data providers.

The atlas draws on a wide variety of data sources including government, academia, conservation and community groups. Consequently, the atlas provides the best available data and will serve as a freely available tool for marine planning in the coming years.
